“What winemaker Sarah Crowe has done with the Yarra Yering range of wines is really quite out there in terms of its scope, its elevation, its consistency and its comprehensiveness. She’s simply made everything here better. The Dry Red No. 2, made essentially with shiraz, is Exhibit A. It’s polished, it’s pure and it’s joyously persistent.” – Halliday Wine Companion Red Wine of the Year 2025
Yarra Yering has long been one of Australia’s most revered wineries, and with the national release of the four core wines from the 2022 vintage, it continues to cement its legacy as one of the country’s finest. We are thrilled to offer a limited pre-release before their official April 7th arrival.
Since joining Yarra Yering as Winemaker and General Manager in 2013, Sarah Crowe has been heralded as Winemaker of the Year by The Halliday Wine Companion (2017) and Gourmet Traveller (2021). The winery has also been named Winery of the Year by the Halliday Wine Companion (2022) and twice by the Real Review (2021 and 2024)!
No stranger to some of the country’s highest vinous accolades, the 2022 release sees Yarra Yering in the spotlight once more. The 2022 Dry Red No. 2 (Shiraz Viognier) is the true champion this time round, winning the 2025 Halliday Wine Companion’s Red Wine of the Year AND Shiraz of the Year.
The Dry Red No. 1 (Bordeaux blend) has been the flagship wine of Yarra Yering since 1973. This latest vintage follows in the footsteps of past greats, including the 2019, which was crowned James Halliday’s Wine of the Year, and last year’s 100-point accolade from Tyson Stelzer.
Rounding out the release are the Agincourt Cabernet Malbec, a vibrant and approachable red perfect for early drinking, and the Underhill Shiraz, a single-block expression that continues to impress with its bright red fruit and spice-laden profile, having collected multiple trophies in recent years.
Last but not least we offer the 98 point 2022 Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon, part of an annual small batch release honouring Yarra Yering’s founder, Dr Bailey Carrodus. The wines focus on Dr Carrodus’ original plantings, harnessing both power and elegance.
This is a release not to be missed—an opportunity to experience some of the finest wines from one of Australia’s true benchmark estates.
