Tasting Notes

Jim Chatto's wines continue to go from strength to strength. As a Kiwi, it evokes an image of turangawaewae. Jim has found his place to stand; a place where he feels empowered and connected, and this is certainly coming through in the wines. Huon Valley fruit; all detail, grace and layered complexity with beautifully defined red and dark cherry fruits cut with souk-like spice and hints of sous bois, shiitake, Peking duck, pressed rose petals, dried cranberry, undergrowth and raspberry coulis. Harmonious and graceful with gorgeous fruit, pumice-stone tannins and mouth-watering acid drive as the wine sails slowly off, leaving a vapour trail of pristine cherry fruits, spice and game. Wonderful stuff. Dave Brookes for James Halliday.
