Tasting Notes

The 2018 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru comprises four barrels this year, from 60- to 80-year-old vines in the middle of the vineyard. It includes up to 40% whole bunch. It has a wonderful bouquet of mineral-rich black fruit that turns toward more red fruit with aeration, also developing a light floral note of rose petals with time. The palate is underpinned by fabulous mineralité, as if Arnaud Mortet had just ground some stone in his hand and plopped it into my glass. Quite profound. Neal Martin
