FELTON ROAD — EPIC 'BLOCK 3' FLIGHT 2018-2023 6 PACK!

FELTON ROAD wines is located in Bannockburn, Central Otago in New Zealand, the most southerly wine growing region in the World. Here, vineyards are nestled into small macroclimates totally surrounded by high mountains, many of which are snowcapped all year round. Though the location is on the edge of sustainable viticulture these macroclimates consistently combine hot days, cool nights and long dry autumns. The latitude of 45 degrees south is similar to the Willamette Valley in Oregon and some of the finest wine regions of France. "Both of Felton Road's Pinot Noirs are breakthrough efforts in New Zealand, and compete with the finest wines being made in California, Oregon and Burgundy's Cote D'Or. — The Wine Advocate; Robert Parker

2023 Block 3 Pinot Noir
[ New Release! ] At this youthful stage, it’s tight, somewhat closed and dark - this dark inky note could be the smell of old vines? The palate definitely follows through, with deep, rich mocha infused tannins and the trademark length. It rides on top of that wave of indulgent phenolics, the pure dark berry freshness of Block 3 dances precariously, like a surfer clinging on before being inevitably overwhelmed. As this vineyard matures, it learns not to shout, but that does nothing to steal from its authority. – Winery note

2022 Block 3 Pinot Noir
Concentrated, powerful pinot noir with a medley of dark, strong cherry/berry fruits that almost mask a subtler suggestion of floral and fresh herb characters. A moderately assertive backbone of fine, peppery oak and fruit tannins suggests good cellaring potential although the wine is certainly accessible now. Drink 2022-2023. – 97pts, Bob Campbell MW

2021 Block 3 Pinot Noir
So aromatic with fresh flowers and rose stems. Shows more whole cluster character than others. Full-bodied with layers of powdery tannins and fruit on the palate creating a gorgeous mouthfeel. Tinges of orange peel. Fine finish. The vines are now 29 years old. – 97pts, James Suckling - #9 Top 100 NZ Wines of 2022

Fine-boned pinot noir that was a little closed initially but soon opened up with a few swirls of the glass. Restrained cherry/berry fruit is intertwined with savoury characters suggesting roast chestnut, toasted nut and spice flavours. Very classy wine that needs time to reveal its true potential. Drink 2022-2039. – 97pts, Bob Campbell MW

2020 Block 3 Pinot Noir
Refined, dense pinot noir with floral, violet, dark cherry and berry, spice and cedar wood flavours that are restrained by plum, ripe tannins. A very classy Felton Road pinot noir that clearly shows plenty of cellaring potential. It has a seductively lengthy finish. Drink 2021-2039. – 97pts, Bob Campbell MW

2019 Block 3 Pinot Noir
Powerful, elegant and potentially very complex pinot noir with floral, rose petal, dark cherry, plum, raspberry, five spice, dried herb and a suggestion of toasty oak flavours. The wine became more accessible as it sat in the glass and deserves to be aerated. An initial hint of sweet fruit is balanced by stemmy tannins that are more pronounced on an impressively lengthy finish. A great cellaring prospect. Drink 2020-2030. – 98pts, Bob Campbell MW

2018 Block 3 Pinot Noir
Impressively aromatic pinot noir with floral, violet, cherry, raspberry, fresh herb and spicy oak flavours. Has power delivered with considerable finesse - a Block 3 signature. A structured yet accessible wine that promises to develop well. Drink 2019-2028. – 97pts, Bob Campbell MW
