Tasting Notes

Readers who are unable to get hold of Mugnier's stunning Musigny or Amoureuses should emphatically not disdain the utterly brilliant 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées. Tasted blind, the wine displays a deep bouquet of cherries, cassis, wild plums and dark chocolate, complemented by some sweet spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with excellent concentration and succulent acids, concluding with a sapid finish. Some fine but youthfully firm tannin on the finish argues for waiting at least five or six years before pulling corks, though this Fuées will need longer to reach its true apogee.
