Tasting Notes

Riesling sourced from the Cooinda Vale vineyard in the Coal River Valley that sees five months on lees in old French oak puncheons. Pale in the glass with the merest flash of green. Concentrated and wonderfully delineated aromas of fresh lime and crunchy green apple with notes of lemongrass, lemon curd, makrut lime, orange blossom, dried honey, crushed stone and citrus rind. The focus and minerally clarity are something else as are the penetrating citrus flavours and vivid, stony cadence as it sets off across the palate. It's all about tension, resolution and grace. A good cellaring prospect if you have the patience. 97pts - Dave Brookes for the Halliday Wine Companion.
