Tasting Notes

Bright medium ruby. Aromas of crushed blueberry and blackberry, licorice and tropical dark chocolate. Densely packed and distinctly purple in its fruit character, enlivened by a spicy element and ripe acidity. There's nothing green or herbal about Landanger's 2015s but this one comes closest owing to its minty quality. Not at all a powerhouse style of Bonnes-Mares and very closed today. Finishes with strong, even, building tannins and sneaky length. I don't think this wine is better than the Amoureuses but I suspect it will be more likely to shut down in the bottle. Stephen Tanzer
